Certified Reference Materials (CRM)

Mining companies have a responsibility to their stakeholders to ensure that appropriate samples are collected and that assays are compliant with standards and regulations. Independent verification of laboratory data improves confidence in ore reserves and selection of drill targets.  Similarly, laboratories must regularly undertake internal quality control to ensure their analyses are to an acceptable degree of accuracy.

Certified Reference Materials (CRM) are "controls" used by both mining companies and laboratories to:

  • check the quality and metrological traceability of products

  • validate analytical measurement methods, and

  • verify the calibration of instruments.

Western Australian-owned and operated, Pilbara Standards is ISO9001:2015 registered

and provides high-quality, competitively priced, customised bulk CRMs for mining industry needs.

Pilbara Standards has a focus on coarse reference materials for the iron ore and bulk minerals industries. Our custom-built processing equipment is optimised specifically for these commodities, and outperforms commercially available equipment by providing superior sample homogeneity.

We are unique in the market in that we have the capacity to homogenise a wide range of batch sizes - up to a massive 43 tonnes - and produce individual samples of up to 4 kilograms. Larger batch sizes allow for reference material to be used across different sites to provide longevity and continuity in control charts, as well as provide significant unit cost savings.
